ZACHEDO is committed to addressing the health needs of vulnerable and marginalized groups as well as empowering them to overcome poverty within urban slum communities in Uganda. To ensure accessibility and affordability of quality healthcare and financial support, ZACHEDO utilizes a range of delivery channels that encompass the Zaam Medical Center, community outreaches, and mass media programs. These channels enable ZACHEDO to effectively reach and empower communities, leading to improved health outcomes. By highlighting the persuasive aspects of these delivery channels, we aim to showcase the value and impact of ZACHEDO’s work, appealing to potential funders who share our vision.
Zaam Medical Center
Zaam Medical Center, located in the urban slum community of Makindye division, serves as a vital resource for the community. By implementing a sliding scale user fee system based on the facility’s location, ZACHEDO ensures that quality healthcare remains accessible and affordable for all community members. The center offers a wide range of services, including medical consultation, specialist sexual and reproductive health consultations, family planning services, ante and post-natal care, child welfare services, comprehensive laboratory services, and more. This comprehensive approach provides holistic care and meets the diverse needs of the community.
Community Outreaches:
ZACHEDO recognizes the importance of reaching communities directly through community-based service delivery systems. By actively engaging local leaders, including Members of Parliament, councilors, women leaders, and Village Health Teams (VHTs), ZACHEDO mobilizes and influences behavioral change interventions at the grassroots level. Community outreaches play a pivotal role in disseminating information and delivering services to community members. Through community meetings, training sessions, and sensitization programs, ZACHEDO ensures that crucial health information and resources are accessible to all. This approach fosters community ownership, participation, and sustainability.
Mass Media Programs
Mass media campaigns, specifically radio and television programs, form an integral part of ZACHEDO’s outreach strategy. Leveraging the power of media, ZACHEDO reaches a broad segment of the community, particularly women and young people, who gain access to valuable information and resources. By conducting regular health sensitization programs on reputable platforms such as RECORD TV and The Central Broadcasting radio station (CBS), ZACHEDO effectively disseminates information on health and sustainable livelihoods. These programs serve as a trusted source of information, empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
Zachedo Sacco
This serves as a critical delivery channel for financial inclusion and empowerment within urban slum communities. Through savings, credit facilities, financial education, and community development initiatives, the Sacco enables community members to break free from poverty, build assets, and create sustainable livelihoods. Through our sacco, ZACHEDO, contributes to the economic empowerment and resilience of vulnerable and marginalized communities, fostering a path to sustainable development and improved well-being.
